Cruelty To Animals

In 2000 Davies completed a series of twenty etchings that explored the plight of the Kaimanawa Horses as depicted in a 20/20 documentary that screened in 1999. The documentary investigated the gross inhumane treatment of the horses and their terrible plight, largely caused by human neglect and an unwillingness by anyone to take responsibility for the situation.

This new series titled Cruelty to Animals expands that investigation and his suite of lithographic prints are produced from the prolification of images of animal cruelty that we are now bombarded with through the internet. The series represents the plight of many animals that suffer through the hands of humans and starkly confronts us with the role that we might play in that.
